Upper Extremity Program
Upper Extremity Clinic Details
- Focused personal interest and goals established at beginning of program.
- Upper extremity treatment provided by a licensed Occupational or Physical Therapist with extensive experience in the delivery of CIMT and neurorehabilitation.
- Use of a constraint mitt on the less affected hand for 90% of the day during the program to encourage the more affected arm to participate in shaping and task practice.
- Repetitive task-oriented training for several hours per day.
- Home Skill Assignments updated daily and individualized for each client's needs.
- Specific task practice activities to transfer improved function and use of the affected extremity into the real world environment.
Lower Extremity Program
Lower Extremity Clinic Details
- Focused personal interest and goals established at beginning of program.
- Lower extremity treatment provided by a licensed Physical or Occupational Therapist with extensive experience in the delivery of CIMT and neurorehabilitation.
- Use of shaping techniques for motor training.
- Repetitive task-oriented training for several hours per day.
- Home Skill Assignments updated daily and individualized for each client's needs.
- Specific task practice activities to transfer improved function and use of the affected extremity into the real world environment.
Meet Our Team
Julia McVicker MS, OTR/L
Julia is owner of Adaptable Therapy Services, LLC.
Julia is working to connect and assist individuals who are dealing with the lingering effects of stroke, brain injury and Multiple Sclerosis.
Julia is an Occupational Therapist with an extensive background in Neurorehabilitation techniques. She graduated from Brenau University with her Masters in 2005 and since that time has worked in the Atlanta area treating clients with hand and upper extremity injuries in a variety of treatment settings.
Julia completed Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Julia is the owner of Adaptable Therapy Services, LLC which supports CIMT Atlanta and an adaptive driving program for clients with medical needs to assist with assessing fitness to drive and adaptive driving needs.
